Dr Margarida Simoes RN, DMV, PhD

Margarida Simões is both a Nurse and a Veterinary Doctor with a special interest in Infectious diseases, Zoonoses and integrative approaches, especially since her Masters in Conservation Biology and Doctorate in Veterinary Sciences. Recently graduated as EUPHEM (ECDC Epidemiology Field training programme, focusing on Public Health Microbiology) at RIVM, the Dutch National Public and Environmental Health Institute, and am a final year resident of the European College of Veterinary Public Health.

She is an active member of NEOH, PREZODE initiative, and VSF-Portugal/International, currently working as Assistant Professor at the University of Évora, Veterinary Medicine Dept.

Enabling sustainable, equitable and better health for all, Humans and Animals, forged by durable partnerships among diverse sectors toward common goals in a One World – One Medicine context, is her driving motivation.

Research Areas: Hepatitis E infection dynamics (human-animal-environment interface), comparative studies on preventive and therapeutic strategies for both animals and humans.
