Dr Tayla Hammond

Dr Tayla Hammond is an animal welfare scientist and research consultant with a background in applied animal behaviour, education, and strategic insight. She holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, where her research focused on promoting positive welfare in laboratory rats through behavioural and affective state assessment.

Tayla leads Animal Insights, a consultancy supporting charities, campaigners, and assurance bodies to embed science-based frameworks that centre animal agency, positive welfare, and compassionate practice.

She is currently working as the Research and Insights Officer at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, leading projects aligned with their prevention and education strategy. Tayla is passionate about One Medicine because it recognises the deep connections between animal and human wellbeing and it is our opportunity to create kinder, healthier world.
