John Grounds
Trustee
John is a consultant in strategy, brand, communications, campaigning and fundraising. He also offers organisational, team and personal development with a focus on values, culture and governance. He has worked with leaders, teams and stakeholders in more than 75 organisations in his 12 years as a consultant, including Humanimal Trust.
Before moving into consultancy John’s worked for nearly 30 years in senior roles at the NSPCC, RSPCA, Action Medical Research, Barnardo’s and The Body Shop
He is a mentor for ACEVO and CharityComms; former non-executive Chair of Forster Communications and chair of trustees for CharityComms. He is a past member of the Cabinet Office Communications Strategy and Evaluation Council and board member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre (CEOP) and UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS).
In 2025 he was appointed Visiting Fellow at the Henley Business School, University of Reading.
Outside work, John’s focus is family, married to Andrea, with three children and a long history of furry companions, most recently Bailey, a Shepherd-Akita who left us in late 2025. His passions are music, food, football, comics, books, cinema, travel and allotments – and trying to find time for them all.
