Professor Philippe B. Wilson

Professor Philippe B. Wilson is a Franco-British healthcare scientist, author, speaker and entrepreneur whose research spans human, animal and environmental health under the One Health umbrella. He has held senior academic appointments at De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University and most recently as Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Innovation at York St John University. He has developed an interdisciplinary research programme that blends analytical chemistry, low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), computational models and translational diagnostics. He has held leadership roles in university innovation and clinical research operations including as a Chief Scientific Officer within NHS primary care. He holds several fellowships in learned societies including the Linnean Society of London, the Royal Society of Biology and the Royal Society of Medicine. He is President of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Comparative Medicine Council.

Philippe’s group was an early adopter and pioneer in benchtop/low-field NMR metabolomics (demonstrating feasibility for point-of-care metabolic profiling) and has published widely on NMR and biosensing technologies, metabolomics, and conservation genetics. His work has been funded by organizations including Cancer Research UK, EPSRC, The Medical Research Council, Innovate UK and the Royal Society. He is Lead Editor of the Springer-Nature Journals Dairy Science and Management and Poultry Science and Management. He is currently Executive Chairman of HH Global Holdings Ltd. his focus is building and scaling multidisciplinary ventures across health, biotech and technology, bringing together research, data insight and real-world deployment. He advises and collaborates with partners to accelerate responsible innovation, strengthen governance, and deliver measurable impact. Philippe has been an active entrepreneur, co-founding several successful startups and established businesses. This includes co-founding a central London laboratory during the COVID-19 pandemic that supported national testing requirements; a lighting business delivering safe, effective antimicrobial sanitation; and several biotechnology and R&D entities supporting his patent portfolio. He has served and continues to serve as a Non-Executive Director to multiple businesses, offering scientific and strategic expertise as well as acting in the role of Chief Scientific Officer for companies in the medicinal cannabis and health technology sectors.

Philippe has spoken at major international events, been profiled by media and industry partners, was named in Forbes’ Magazine’s “30 Under 30” for Healthcare and Medicine in 2018 and awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Joseph Black Medal in 2019. He serves on the several Uk Government Expert Advisory Committees and Councils including the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ UK Genetics of Livestock and Equines Committee, and the Department for Health and Social Care’s Committee on the Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment.
