Pics with Purpose

Capture a moment where humans and animals connect. Donate. Make a difference.

Generously sponsored by:

We’re inviting you to capture a moment of connection between humans and animals – those real, often unnoticed moments where our lives meet.

Whether it’s companionship, care, curiosity, work, play or coexistence, these interactions reveal something deeper: humans and animals are not separate. We share bonds, environments, challenges, and ultimately, the same future. What affects one, affects all.

The brief

We’re looking for natural, authentic moments that show the connection between humans and animals. Moments where paths cross, routines overlap, experiences are shared, or trust and understanding are quietly expressed.

Photographers can interpret the theme in any way that feels meaningful to them.

You might capture:

  • A dog running alongside its owner, moving in sync
  • A bird making its home in a human space
  • A farmer and their animals responding to one another
  • A gardener observing bees at work among newly planted flowers
  • An animal and a healthcare professional sharing a quiet moment of trust

These moments – whether gentle, surprising, humorous or profound – illustrate how closely our lives are intertwined. A shared moment, a shared space or a shared landscape can all tell a powerful story about the deep connections between humans and animals in this world we both share.

Professor Noel Fitzpatrick

Professor Noel Fitzpatrick

Humanimal Trust was established in May 2014 by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, known globally as a ground-breaking orthopaedic-neuro veterinary surgeon.

As a vet, he experienced personally the deep divide between human and animal medicine and saw how unfair this was. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities to share what he was learning from day to day practice, or to benefit from relevant learning from human medicine, he decided to create the platform himself.

This laid the foundations for the work the Trust does today, removing barriers and seeking to close the divide between human and animal medicine.

John Brandler

John Brandler

John is the owner, founder and leading force behind Brandler Galleries. John comes from a dealing background – his grandfather was an auctioneer, so it was no surprise that he started dealing in antique furniture whilst he was still at school. John purchased his first Carel Weight painting at a house sale and it was through Carel that he met other Royal Academicians, fell in love with the art world and has dealt in art ever since. Brandler Galleries specialises in Modern British Art, Illustrations for Children’s Publications and English Old Masters. With a variety of prints and original artworks, the gallery has an abundance of charm and is home to many rare  works by street artists Banksy, Blek Le Rat and Pure Evil.
Nichola Brown

Nichola Brown

As Chief Impact Officer at The Buddyhood, Nichola has over 20 years’ experience supporting children and young people who are disengaged from education. She specialise in mental health, wellbeing, and helping children whose needs are often misunderstood to reconnect, thrive, and reach their potential.

The Buddyhood share stories with purpose to help empower, educate and entertain children so that they can express themselves effectively and responsibly. This helps them thrive by creating a safe space for them to be their authentic selves, while taking the pressure off from caregivers. Nichola’s role helps to create a environment in which all those around a child can find a path to stable energies so that the child can learn and grow, while being given the chance to have a childhood to really enjoy. As a keynote speaker with lived experience, Nichola challenges perspectives on behaviour, inclusion, and the power of connection over control. Together, their work has supported thousands of children, but Nichola’s passion remains reaching the many more who still need support.
