A Hole in One for Humanimal Trust’s Inaugural Golf Day

Sep 22, 2025 | 0 comments

Our very first Humanimal Trust Golf Day took place last week at the stunning Old Thorns Hotel in Liphook, Hampshire, home to a Top 100, 18-hole championship golf course. Surrounded by woodland, part moorland and part parkland with natural springs and lakes, it provided the perfect setting for our inaugural event.

Guests began the day with breakfast in the Hampshire Suite, overlooking the course, before 13 teams took to the fairways for a shotgun start. The weather was kind – with the sun even making an appearance – and players enjoyed a great day of golf followed by a two-course BBQ lunch and entertainment from MC Adger Brown, who also hosted a lively charity auction.

The competition was fierce but friendly, with Par to Bar (Bruce Martin, Paul Gibbs, Trev Warren and Stuart Layton) emerging as the winning team. Huge congratulations also go to:

  • Longest Drive – Keighley Peters (Team Golf Geeks)
  • Nearest the Pin – Adam Hunt (Team Par-Timers)

Our charity auction featured some fantastic lots, including:

  • A Four Ball at Old Thorns
  • A Four Ball at Hillbarn Golf Club in Worthing
  • An adrenaline package: a place in the Humanimal Trust Spinnaker Tower abseil, set to take place during One Medicine Month in May 2026

We are hugely grateful to our event sponsors, APH Ltd and Creative Pod, for their generous support. Special thanks also go to all who donated prizes, including Old Thorns and Hillbarn Golf Club.

Together, we raised over £8,000 to support our mission to drive collaboration between human and veterinary medicine.

Our Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, Sarah Colbourne, said: “We were delighted to welcome thirteen teams to our inaugural Humanimal Trust Golf Day. Everyone had a great day of golf in support of One Medicine, and we are extremely grateful to every single player, sponsor and supporter who made this event possible. Thanks to you, we raised vital funds and awareness to help drive collaboration between human and veterinary medicine. We look forward to welcoming you all back next year!”

Plans are already underway for next year’s Humanimal Trust Golf Day, with the date to be confirmed soon.

You can see more photos from the day here.

Together, we can make One Medicine a reality – for the benefit of all species.
