On One Medicine Day in 2021, long-time supporter Bev Hunt set herself an ambitious and heartfelt challenge: to complete 55 five-mile (or more) walks before her 55th birthday, all in support of Humanimal Trust and in celebration of the One Medicine mission. A staggering 362 miles, 848,354 steps, and 230 hours on her feet later, Bev has raised an incredible £1695 for Humanimal Trust.
Come rain or shine, Bev laced up her walking boots and set off across Cornwall’s stunning landscapes – from coast to coast, through towns and countryside, and even up to Cornwall’s highest point. Each walk brought her closer to her goal, raising vital awareness and funds for One Medicine, a cause she describes as “close to her heart.”
On 13 April, Bev completed her final walk in St Agnes, where she was warmly greeted by family and friends for a well-earned celebratory lunch.
Reflecting on her journey, Bev said: “I am very proud of my achievement, and I know that the money I have raised so far will help towards bringing One Medicine one step closer. One Medicine is a cause close to my heart and marks the way forward. With medics and vets working closely together and sharing research and outcomes of treatments, cures for diseases will be found quicker in both humans and animals, but not to the detriment of any animals. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me along the way, donated and or/bought one (or several) of my calendars. I am hoping to produce one more calendar containing my 12 favourite photos taken on the 55 walks.”
We are incredibly grateful for Bev’s passion, energy, and commitment to supporting One Medicine. Her inspiring story is a reminder of the power of individual action to make a real difference. Thank you, Bev!
