Two incredible Humanimal Trust supporters have taken fundraising to new heights – quite literally. Dawn and Chloe bravely leapt from 15,000 feet, taking on a tandem skydive and raising over £1,100 for Humanimal Trust.
The skydive was more than just an unforgettable thrill. By taking part, Dawn and Chloe were helping support Humanimal Trust’s mission to advance One Medicine – bringing together doctors, vets and researchers so that that medical progress benefits both humans and animals.
Standing on the ground before the jump, Dawn summed up how she was feeling, saying: “I’m a wee bit nervous, but I’m more excited than anything.”
Following their climb to 15,000 feet, the moment became very real as Dawn and Chloe stood at the aircraft door, looking down at the world far below. Despite the butterflies, their determination never wavered. For nearly a minute, they experienced the unforgettable rush of freefall, soaring through the sky before their parachutes opened and the peaceful descent back to earth began.
With her feet firmly back on solid ground after a safe landing, Dawn said: “It’s brilliant up there. My favourite part was falling out – the freefall. It was scary! What I do for Humanimal Trust, I don’t know!”
While the skydive was an incredible personal achievement, the real impact lies in what their fundraising helps make possible. Every pound raised supports Humanimal Trust’s work to accelerate progress that can improve and save lives across species.
Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, Sarah Colbourne, said: “Everyone at Humanimal Trust would like to say a huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to Dawn and Chloe. We are in awe of their bravery, generosity and determination, and the incredible amount raised. Their support helps us further the One Medicine mission and inspires others to take on challenges for a cause they care about.”
If Dawn and Chloe’s adventure has inspired you, why not take on a challenge of your own? Challenge events are a fantastic way to support Humanimal Trust while pushing yourself to do something memorable.
For those brave enough, a 15,000-foot skydive is the highest available in the UK, delivering up to 60 seconds of exhilarating freefall at speeds of around 120mph before the parachute opens.
If skydiving isn’t quite your thing, there are plenty of other ways to get involved. From runs, walks, swims and cycles to taking part in our Spinnaker Tower abseil this May – which Dawn will also be tackling – there’s a challenge for everyone.
Because when passionate people step up – or even jump out – incredible things can happen.
