Humanimal Trust are proud to reveal our 2024-25 Impact Report – a reflection of the remarkable progress we’ve made together towards a future where humans and animals benefit equally from medical breakthroughs.

The report sets out a year of remarkable progress and transformation in its mission to advance One Medicine. Over the past year, the Trust has launched a refreshed brand and website, celebrated its inaugural One Medicine Month and strengthened its influence across science, human and veterinary medicine, policy, and public engagement. With a growing community and an expanding network of collaborators, Humanimal Trust is rapidly becoming a driving force in uniting doctors, vets and researchers.

Joe Bailey, CEO at Humanimal Trust, said: “This year has been about momentum. We’ve not only broadened our reach, we’ve deepened our impact. Across disciplines and sectors, we’re seeing growing recognition that One Medicine is not just a vision, but a necessity.”

Key milestones for 2024-25 include:

  • Launch of a £250,000 Cancer Discovery Fund, supporting collaborative, One Medicine research focused on improving diagnosis, developing new treatments, and enhancing quality of life for human and animal cancer patients.
  • Expansion of the Science Committee, bolstering scientific expertise and credibility.
  • Growth of the Connections Awards, the only fund dedicated exclusively to One Medicine research.
  • Development of an ethical framework to support patient-focused clinical research across both human and veterinary medicine, shaped by public and professional input.

The Trust also saw a significant rise in public engagement, with more than 23,500 people signing the Humanimal Trust Pledge – a clear indication that public support for One Medicine is gaining ground.

Additionally, the charity was humbled to receive several transformational legacy gifts, a lasting and powerful testament to the passion and commitment of its supporters. These contributions will play a crucial role in sustaining the movement and advancing innovative, collaborative research.

Looking ahead, Humanimal Trust remains firmly committed to funding transformative research, building the evidence base for One Medicine, influencing policy and driving societal change. Its vision is bold: a future where humans and animals no longer pay the price of medical progress – they share in its benefits.

Joe Bailey, said: “To everyone who has joined us, thank you. Together, we are shaping an exciting future defined by compassion, collaboration and shared hope.”
