The 6 May holds a special place in the heart of Humanimal Trust. It was on 6 May 2014 that Professor Noel Fitzpatrick founded the charity, with a bold vision: to break down the barriers between human and veterinary medicine, and to drive medical progress for ALL species through collaboration, compassion, and shared knowledge.
ONE Medicine Day has become a key moment in our calendar. It’s a day when medical, veterinary, and research professionals from around the world come together to exchange insights, spark innovation, and forge partnerships. These connections lie at the heart of the One Medicine approach – because when humans and animals benefit from the same medical advances, everyone wins.

VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM 2021
Stronger Together – How we can take ONE Medicine forward
We were delighted to hold our inaugural ONE Medicine Day Symposium virtually on Thursday, 6 May 2021, the anniversary of the founding of Humanimal Trust 7 years ago.
The theme of the inaugural Symposium was ‘Stronger Together – How we can take ONE Medicine forward’ and comprised a number of speaker sessions, a panel discussion, and an address from our Founder, Professor Noel Fitzpatrick.
The aim of the Symposium was to support the creation of a roadmap, looking at how human and veterinary medicine can more routinely work together and how to address the challenges that One Medicine faces.
The full Symposium Report, outlining the discussions that took place, is available below.
