Humanimal Trust Funding Calls

Current Research Funding Calls

One Medicine Cancer Discovery Fund

We are pleased to announce our Cancer Discovery Fund, the aim of which is to create collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships and projects that can change the landscape of cancer research.

Cancer does not discriminate between species. Approximately 1 in 4 dogs, 1 in 3 cats, and as many as 1 in 2 humans will develop cancer during their lifetime[1].

Tumour biology, development, and prognosis can be remarkably similar between humans and animals for some types of cancer. Humans and companion animals also live in the same environments and may share similar lifestyles. These and other factors open up huge opportunities for cross-discipline knowledge sharing and learning between human and veterinary researchers and clinicians in cancer research.

This call has been designed to harness spontaneous disease and encourage collaborative projects that aim to improve cancer diagnosis and understanding of cancer disease biology; develop new cancer treatments or improve existing treatments; and improve quality of life for humans and animals with cancer.

The Fund is up to £250,000 for a single project, which will be assessed by a 2-stage application process. The Expression of Interest (EOI) will provide an initial step in the assessment, and those successful in the EOI stage will be invited to submit a full application. The project will be assessed by Humanimal Trust's Science Committee.

Please read the guidance carefully and complete the Expression of Interest (EOI).

EOI deadline: 5pm on 29 December 2024.

If you wish to discuss your application, please contact iva@humanimaltrust.org.uk

Humanimal Trust Connections Award - Closed - upcoming calls in 2025

Are you interested in building collaborations, but your day-to-day job makes it hard?

We have designed a special call that recognises that opportunities to engage and develop partnerships to support One Medicine are limited. We hope that the call will enable professionals to explore meaningful partnerships that can be built on and deliver impactful projects that benefit both human and veterinary healthcare.

Humanimal Trust Connections Awards aim to support the development of partnerships and collaboration between a wide range of human and animal medical/health professionals in order to grow future projects relevant to One Medicine. Learning and knowledge exchange is based on shared experience, an experience that has the potential to open possibilities for closer working and builds on realisation of similarities as well as differences.

All proposals must be aligned with the principles of the Charity and support the aim of One Medicine (please, note this is different to One Health). For more information, please visit our website https://www.humanimaltrust.org.uk/who-we-are
