We want a world where both humans and animals have better opportunities to benefit equally from medical progress because vets, doctors and researchers routinely collaborate and share – this is One Medicine.

Together, we can show the world that One Medicine is the future of medical progress.
The Humanimal Trust Pledge: One Medicine Matters
I pledge to help spread the word about One Medicine.
I want human and veterinary medicine to work more closely together to benefit all people and all animals.
I want regulatory bodies to include a One Medicine approach in research strategies, professional training programmes and the design of new and amended legislation.
I want to help make animal testing obsolete by supporting its replacement, reduction and refinement.
I want reciprocity – both humans and animals should benefit from sustainable medical progress.
Why sign the Pledge?
One Medicine is a progressive approach to medical care that aims to bring human and veterinary medicine together, for the benefit all human and animal patients.
It focusses on improving how vets, doctors and researchers share their medical knowledge and skills with each other, to find common ground, so they can work together to understand, diagnose and treat diseases that are found in both human and animal patients.
It proposes the option of including animal patients (where it is in the best interests of the animal) in patient-focussed studies, during the development of medicines – in the same way as humans take part in medical studies.
It supports the development and use of animal-free New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) that will help us to research diseases and develop treatments without the need for animal testing.
We believe this One Medicine approach will be more sustainable, develop treatments faster and more efficiently, and make sure that cutting-edge medical breakthroughs benefit people and animals equally.
Traditional animal testing methods are designed purely for the benefit of people, without full consideration of the animal. We believe a One Medicine approach can replace, reduce and refine the need for these animal testing methods until they become obsolete.
